2026 Nutrition Essentials in Medicine (10 Mar 2026)

Diet counseling to improve cardiovascular outcomes is more important than ever, given a new federal focus on closing gaps in medical nutrition education, and the release of the 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

To keep up with the science (and the many patient questions we receive every day), RIACC has partnered with the award-winning Gaples Institute, an educational non-profit dedicated to advancing the role of nutrition and lifestyle in medicine, to provide chapter members with free access to “nutrition essentials in medicine,” an online, 4-hr self-paced CME course endorsed by RENOWNED nutrition experts and featuring:

Nutrition education with no commercial interests or diet biases

4 condensed, 1-hr evidence-based nutrition science modules in an engaging format

        Interactive knowledge-checks with customized feedback

        20+ realistic clinical scenarios

Practical tools for rapid clinical implementation

Direct links to 150+ printable medical references for your personal use

        Downloadable summaries

Downloadable patient-education resources including printable handouts

RIACC members in good standing are invited to participate in this fun, self-paced course and must commit to completing all four modules as well as a quick pre- and post-course survey. You will receive the pre-course survey link in your confirmation email, and access to the course within 24 hours after completing the survey.

Note: Although each module is 1-hour, most clinicians find that they can complete these in under 1 hour, and then pick up where they left off to finish the others.
