Going Beneath the Surface of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: Understanding the Pathophysiology and Deploying New Strategies for Timely Diagnosis and Targeted Treatment" on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6-7pm EDT

Activity Description

Diagnosing hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) can be a challenge, as its symptoms are nonspecific and share commonalities with other diseases. HCM can limit an individual’s ability to perform activities of daily living and severely affect quality of life, which increase in impact the longer this disease goes undetected or misdiagnosed. So how do we reach a timely diagnosis of HCM and help patients manage symptoms and maintain quality of life? In this live meeting series, an expert cardiologist will address these questions through realistic patient case scenarios to unpack the clinical signs and symptoms that warrant a closer evaluation for HCM and evaluate how current therapeutic options, including novel cardiac myosin inhibitors, can improve symptoms and preserve quality of life through individualized approaches to care.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Recognize the clinical characteristics and pathologic features suggestive of HCM
• Differentially diagnose patients suspected of having HCM consistent with current guidance and evidence to promote early diagnosis and
timely treatment

• Assess the efficacy, safety, and ability of available therapeutic strategies to address the underlying pathophysiology and desired treatment goals • Individualize treatment regimens for HCM consistent with patient preferences and goals of care
